The African Growth and Opportunity Act

President Clinton signed the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) into law on May 18, 2000 as Title 1 of The Trade and Development Act of 2000. The Act offers tangible incentives for 35 Sub-Saharan African countries to continue their efforts to open their economies and build free markets.  Cape Verde is one the beneficiary countries.

An AGOA implementation guide, in English and French, is available at www.ustr.gov.

The definitive list of AGOA-eligible products has been made public. The most updated information please visit the AGOA site at www.agoa.gov/index.html.

On February 10, 2003 an AGOA Information Center was opened in Cape Verde at the Center for Tourism, Investment and Export, PROMEX
